Scanning Inventory

Process Overview: The scanning of inventory takes place all over the facilities and is a part of numerous processes. Scanning items allows us to track the movement of inventory as it comes in, moves through, and leaves the facility(s). The below process and guidelines should be used when scanning inventory.

Step 1: Navigate to the appropriate screen to allow for barcode scanning.

  • *Note– If the user tries to scan a barcode on a screen that doesn’t allow for barcode scanning, an error message will appear.

Step 2: Point the exit window of the scanner at the barcode being scanned.

Step 3: Press and hold one of the two yellow scan buttons on the sides of the scanner. The red laser aiming pattern will turn on to assist in aiming.

  • *Note– Ensure the barcode is within the area formed by the crosshairs in the aiming pattern. The aiming dot is used for increased visibility.

Step 5: After the barcode has been decoded and the scan has been captured, release the scan button.

This completes the process of scanning inventory.
