Process Overview: We manufacture various alcohol-based wipes in the Cleantex Room at our 12th Street facility. The process below outlines the basic steps taken to produce these wipes and the steps included in the general manufacturing of the wipes.
Step 1: Ensure the work order/BOM components have been transferred to the appropriate backflush bin.
Step 2: Ensure the appropriate solution has been hooked up on the outside of the building. (Located right outside of the door on the backside of the room)
Step 3: Move the appropriate spools of fabric and foil. Each spool should be moved next to the corresponding crane. They should then be put on the spool holder, hooked up, lifted, manually moved over to the machine, and then lowered onto the racking.
Step 4: To prevent having to manually maneuver the fabric/foil through the machine, it should be taped to the end of the previous roll of fabric/foil that is being used. This will allow it to be guided through the machine as normal, removing the combined pieces at the end.
- *Note– Some fabric comes pre-cut into the widths required for our wipes. For the fabric that is not pre-cut, the roller blades must be set so the fabric is properly cut.
Step 5: Once the appropriate controls have been set, the fabric/foil is in place and ready, the solution has been properly hooked up, and the roller blades have been set (if required), then the machine is ready to be started.
The below goes through the processes of both the fabric and foil.
Fabric
- The fabric is straightened and cut to the appropriate width.
- Each width of fabric is then folded into the appropriate size, allowing it to fit into the foil packaging.
- The fabric is then guided down to the final step of the process where it is cut, pushed into its foil packaging, and filled with solution (where applicable).
Foil
- The foil goes through multiple straightening rollers, before then being cut to split the front/back packaging and is straightened out again.
- As the front and back of the foil come down and the wipes are inserted, the 4 sides of the packaging are then sealed shut and cut before falling onto the conveyor belt for final packaging.
This completes the production process for the CT/RR wipes.
