Advantus Reasonable Testing for New Product/Material/Factory

The Advantus Product & Sourcing team is responsible for communicating to Product Compliance when there is a material change, factory change, or if there is a new product line.  New products must receive a passing test before shipping.  No failing products can ship to Advantus or customers.

New Product Testing Best practices and Considerations:

  • Group “like” items:
    • Surfaces (zippers, tabs, buttons, etc.)
    • Formulas (CAS, ingredients, etc.)
    • Color
    • Composition of Material (Items must be constructed of the same basic materials)
  • For large project assortments, (such as the Sulyn bead program), establish base testing for components.  (i.e. an assortment with 4 colors and 4 shapes should be covered by no more than 5 tests (1 substrate test and 4 colors), not 16 tests)
  • Material change testing does not necessarily need to be full testing but rather reflective of the material change.
