Managing the Short Term Disability Benefit

  1. Upon request of short term disability leave, provide the employee with the  Application for Short Term Disability
  1. Provide the employee with the Short Term Disability Policy
  1. Employee returns the application which includes a start date.  Employees are eligible for up to 12 weeks of Short Term Disability. 
  1. Pay the employee 60% of the regular pay amount as sick pay. 
  1. Navigate to the payroll batch for that week. 
  1. Click Insert.

  1. Click Employee.

  1. Select the check box next to the employee’s name.

  1. Click Insert. 
  1. Click Insert -> Column

  1. Select Other Hours for hourly employees or Other Earnings for salary employees

  1. Select SIC – SICK from the dropdown menu.

  1. Click Done. 
  1. Enter the number of hours or earnings being paid for sick time.  
  1. Click Auto Balance
  1. Click Done.
