Why are inbound audits important?
While P&S requests final carton dimensions from vendors and updates the system accordingly, vendors can make mistakes and send inaccurate information. By performing inbound audits periodically, the warehouses help us maintain system integrity.
Carton weights and dimensions drive several critical processes, including ocean freight cost calculations, space planning purposes, and BOL/NMFC code assignments.
When are inbound audits performed?
There are two ways inbound audits are created.
- System generated:
- NetSuite will prompt the warehouse team to perform an inbound audit based on the following criteria:
- If an item has no inbound audit record or an audit record of 240+ days (8 months) old, it will be flagged for an audit.
- NetSuite will prompt the warehouse team to perform an inbound audit based on the following criteria:
- Task-driven:
- A P&S Specialist will create a directed audit when necessary.
Where can you find your inbound audits?
Failed inbound audits will be in your reminders under “My/Team Open Item Audits.” Inbound audits that pass will not show up. You will not receive any notifications via email that you have audits to review. The departmental expectation is that specialists review their NetSuite dashboard throughout the day and attend to their issues accordingly.
The goal is to complete the inbound audits no later than 24 hours after receiving them. For example, audits must be completed by EOD Tuesday if they show up on Monday. Audits appearing on a Friday must be completed by EOD Monday.
